But our actions have also resulted in a destructive situation with peaking emissions. To meet our biggest challenges to date we need to take this relationship to another level.
We have – literally – hit rock bottom. Now, we need to find new solutions for how to reach net zero, minimize the harm we’ve done to the planet and clean up our mess.
That’s why ZEQL is here. An innovation to ignite the industrial transformation. Our technology enables the world’s first fully electrified, emission-free quicklime production.
Quicklime is widely used across the base industry today, in everything from steel to paper, water purification and flue gas cleaning.
Because of the wide industrial use of quicklime, the emission is hard-to-abate and today products produced by burning limestone account for 8 percent of global CO2 emissions.
With this electrifying initiative, we are entering a new era of quicklime production, replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, thus dramatically reducing emissions from the industrial sector.
In addition, emissions from the process are isolated and captured as a by-product. This innovative technology creates quicklime production that releases zero emissions. And it is scalable, for Sweden and the world.
